Brian Rainforth was raised in the Pacific Northwest - first in Alaska and then in the Seattle area of the traditionally Duwamish territory. You may have seen him on the Today Show recalling how he was shocked to learn of his mother’s European heritage when he was 12 years old. You didn’t see that episode? Skip it. He’s done a lot of growing since then and has more than made peace with his heritage (you should’ve seen his Covid-”Viking” beard)!
This site is intended to display some of his more refined, mainstream pieces. Other works are by appointment only or have special designation.
Currently Brian resides in Oregon, a territory that was kindly drawn around the people of the Klamath Tribes and other nations of western North America. From his paternal lineage he counts among his ancestors Klamath, Wasco, Yakama, Cowlitz, Quinault and Tohono O’odam; and from his matrilineal: Norwegian, Scottish, English and other Northern European.
French and Organizational Management are what he did in academic life. Travel agent, Interpretation/Translation entrepreneurship and non-profit work (both start up and with established agencies) are what he has done in professional life.
