Several places along the shores of the Salish Sea on the west coast of Turtle Island (North America) are home to where steep hills meet the water. Seattle, in fact, was very much a steep hillside site. Today with the regrades it is not so steep, but if you ever find yourself in downtown Seattle, you won’t have to go far to walk on the remnants of precipices - Pike Place Market sits atop one overlooking Elliott Bay.
