Distant hillsides are obscured by mists and the larger branches of trees close by. Umpqua territory was where the artist was born. The thick forests of the west side of the Cascade Range in North America are very dear to the artist. The volcanic foothills rounded by long, seasonal rains teem with wildlife. They provided and still do to this day plentiful food, recreation and industry.
